Citizenside Pro
Expert in participatory news.
Citizenside is a pioneer of the citizen reporter movement, and boasts more than 70,000 members in over 150 countries. Launched in 2006 by Philippe Checinski, Julien Robert, and Matthieu Stefani, Citizenside began as an idea in a Paris apartment living room, and has now grown into a global news community.
Citizenside gives citizens everywhere a web and mobile platform to take part in the global discussion by sharing their local news with a worldwide audience. The community also has the opportunity to get their news images syndicated to media outlets through Citizenside’s unique Eyewitness Wire service, the Citizenside Pro website (www.citizensidepro.com), and the AFP’s Image Forum.
The technology developed by Citizenside is available to media houses as a white label community solution called the Reporter Kit ( www.reporterkit.com). Numerous leading European media outlets already use the Reporter Kit to power their online communities and collect, fact-check, and publish user-generated news. Citizenside also provides training to many national and local newsrooms on topics including verifying amateur news online, social media monitoring, and networked journalism.
